Jinja carries the dams, the factories and the fishing landings. Our desk covers what industry does to the river, and what the river still gives to households.

We follow water quality reports, factory discharge complaints, and the enforcement patrols on the lake. Fishers tell us first when a rule changes on paper but not on the water.
Industrial health is part of this beat too. Factory injuries are rarely reported in a national paper, so we log them from the district health facility record and the family.
